The truth of ink removal from the leather handbag

I would like to expose everyone to the truth, 99% of removing ink from the leather handbag is not single-step cleaning. However, the ink stain is the top of the handbag issue always, but to remove an ink stain from a leather handbag is needs to understand the leather type first before getting through to an ink removal as proper.

In general, leather can identify into 2 main types.

First, Unfinished leather is pure leather with dyed color through or sometimes, its natural leather color.

Second, Finished leather is normally defective leather or imperfect somehow, then the tannery coat the leather paint overlay on the leather surface, and cover leather paint with leather paint protective solution as a final topcoat.

As above mentioned, before clarifying the ink removal steps, leather identification is needed because there are some different procedures. The necessary purpose of testing the leather is to get to know the type of leather, to make sure we choose the right chemicals to work with. The easiest way to test the leather is "Chemical Testing" by using BT.Leather Ink Remover dap to the leather and wipe it off immediately. They are 2 ways could get the result.

First, if the leather leaves a dark spot, means the leather gets wet.

Second, the leather is still the same, with no mark left on the leather surface.

Wet leather which leaves the dark spot = Unfinish Leather

Un-wet leather which the leather still the same = Finished Leather

The doubt is why we can not use the water to test, this is because water is not concentrated as the chemical. It might take time to soak into the leather and make us confused with the correct leather type.

After we know the right leather type then selecting the right chemicals for handbag restoration or leather recoloring is not so far.

After removing ink stain from Unfinished leather the color touch-up is needed, as you will see from the attached video. The unfinished leather is very sensitive can get the stain easily, even water because the leather is so pure and highly absorbed level.

On the other hand, even the leather is Finished Leather, after ink removal, it should clean leather as a regular procedure because during removing ink, other dirt or stain will together be removed then the leather might obviously spot bright and look weird. Therefore, the leather cleaning as a proper normal procedure will help the blend the color more smoothly. However, even the leather after the test is showed as a Finished Leather but sometimes the ink stain might soak for a long time ago and soak into the leather structure then the ink removal process might discolor the leather paint. To get the perfect result, a color touch-up is required.

Actually, the ink removal instruction itself is very easy, only drop the BT.Leather Ink Remover to the cotton bud then spin it just like scoop ice cream to the cone and use clean and dry of the remaining cotton bud side to wipe it off immediately.
