The sticky feel on the leather handbags and the leather handbags storage tips PART 2/2

In the previous article, we already cleared the cause of stickiness of the leather handbag then this article is the solution. We will explain how to remove the stickiness from the leather handbags in each scenario. If you miss the previous article then here is the click!

1. The expired inner lining is consequent the stickiness or peeling.

Solution

In this case, you can clean it off with BT.Sticky Cleaner. However, after removing the stickiness the remaining layer underneath the expired layer is a fluffy fabric and it doesn't look nice. If the purpose is your personal use, in my opinion, is acceptable but if for Bag Spa service standard is not enough. To be easier, we use BT.Sticky Cleaner only the gluing area then replace with the new instant inner lining. It is much easier than clean it off but you need to have basic leather sewing skills.

2. The melting leather edging. This also the edging color is expired.

Solution

First, remove the existing edging with the mini spatula or mini throwing the re-edging. It's simple. Find out more about the re-edging by the link.

3. The leather surface was sticky touch. This could divide the problems of stickiness by the leather type into 2 different sub-categories.

3.1 Unfinished leather: The common problem of this type of leather is soaked with lotions and hand cream or grease probably because this type of leather is naked nothing protecting so it was easy to absorb the grease consequent the sticky feel, sometimes its feel like wet leather but not.

Solution

The big problem of this problem is you won't be able to re-coloring because the color can not cover because the leather surface is oily. If it can cover with the BT.Standard Color but soon it will be peeling if the leather not been clean properly so BT.Grease Remover is the important key to solve this problem by removing oil or grease before recoloring in normal procedures.

3.2 The existing color coating is expired consequent the stickiness. It found this problem in many patent leather handbags because the patent leather has a thick color coating layer and the type of patent leather coating can be melted easier in a hot climate than a cool one.

Solution

The leather surface needs to clean it off and recoat by BT.Color Coating. After cleaning the leather surface, if the leather color underneath is still perfect then no need to re-color, only re-coating with the right shiny as original but it is nothing wrong if you would like to select the color coating in the different shiny.
