Canvas VS Coated Canvas

Let's continue a little bit more about the material. Many confusion between Canvas and Coated Canvas, Do you know the difference, exactly?

Mostly the canvas is mean a kind of plain woven textile. Typically made of cotton and linen and blended with synthetic fiber to make it suitable for heavy duty. In terms of the luxury handbag material, the canvas can get wet but some cases might slowly absorb the liquid because it might be coated with waterproof product. Most of the canvas is plain without printed patterns on its surface.

However, the coated canvas is about something different. Compare both material structures the Canvas has only one layer while the Coated canvas has 2 layers of textile underneath and a plastic sheet over the top.

That's why, the coated canvas is more durable because it's waterproofing, and easy to clean but the touch is slippery and hard like plastic because it is a plastic surface. Most of them have a printed graphic on the surface like a signature logo, flower, and other. For example, Monogram, Damier, Eclip, Azur, Multicolor, Graphite and so on.

Sometimes, the coated canvas might be coated with clear plastic on the graphic woven like some model of Gucci or printed graphic textile like Cath Kidston.

Is it has the same structure as PVC?

Yes, it is.

But why don't call PVC?

Because the sounds look cheap? isn't it?

Even though it is a kind of PVC but I was surrendered to the high quality of Luxury coated canvas because it really lasts long and the design that what I am pleased to pay for.
