How To Clean and Restore Patent Leather
The Patent Leather is the charming leather as its look very shiny and glossy. However, for bag spa business, Patent Leather is one of the hardest case to restore because the coating of Patent leather is thick and strong very hard to remove. Let see how we take care or restore the Patent Leather.
How to Clean Patent Leather: Actually, patent leather is very easy to clean only use BT.Polyester Sealant Wiper (Lint-Free Cloth) apply BT.Patent Leather Cleansing Mousse to wipe the Patent surface in circular motion, it will return to glossy and shiny as brand new. (Only to a real patent not a PVC) However, only cleaning can not solve another problems. The common problems of Patent Leather can be describe tops 3 problems as list below;
1. Patent Coating is become STICKY because the Patent coating is a kindly of plastic (Thermoplastic can be melt or softer in hot climate)
2. Patent Coating is Turn to Yellow Color or Crack, this problem is because of the coating is expired.
3. Patent Coating is Absorb the ink or other color stain as we called Dye Transferred
The solution for these problems is "Patent Leather Recolor" or "Patent Leather Color Restoration" Before we going thought the correct procedure, let talk about Patent Leather Structure. The Patent Leather Structure, roughly, to make it easily to understand, it could be separated to 3 layers. Leather as a bottom, Color as a middle and Coating as a top layer.
According to the tops 3 problems of Patent Leather, most of the case it because of an expired Coating.
Therefore, first step is Cleaning the Existing Coating by using BT.Coating Remover apply with all purpose cleansing sponge or melamine sponge. It will be very sticky during the cleaning process, don't worry, its normal. Keep continue the cleaning process until remover all the color, removed a middle layer until its remain only bottom leather as a naked leather.
Remark : After remove the shiny coating off, if the sticky feel or the yellow color are off. It's might not need to recolor only re-coating with BT.Color Coating : MX Gloss set it's enough.
Second Step, Recolor as normal procedure.
Final Step, Re-coating with BT.MX Gloss.

Louis Vuitton Vernis Restoration
1. Use all purpose cleansing sponge or melamine sponge apply BT.Coating Remover us till the leather naked like the left side image. For LV vernis the leather should be naked before recolor because the leather have a logo stamp, if you don't clean it very well and recolor over top of existing color the result will awful because the groove logo stamp will shallower than the original at become a fake one.
2. Apply the BT.Color Base
3. Apply the BT.Primer Color (Dark Gray) as a base coat until all wh waller look fully dark gray. (Some color especially dark color not need a primer color, can be skip this process) 4. Apply real color with BT.Standard Color match the color as your need. However, for vernis Patent is not an ordinary color, it has a little bit metallic or glitter in the color. Let see the next step.
5. Mix the 4 (real color) with a little amount of BT.Metallic Gold and apply 1 layer.
6. Mix BT.Mx Gloss : Mx Gloss Dilute in ratio 7:3 (Mx Gloss : Dilute) For example, if you need the result of 10 ml, put BT.MX Gloss 7 ml and BT.MX Gloss Dilute 3ml.
6.1 Adjust the pressure of the air compressor to half bar (very low pressure)
6.2 Use Spray gun (the best) or Air Brush, adjust the cap widest. ึ7. Spray it slowly, in order line by line. The new line should overlapping to previous line one third. Let's it dry naturally in room temperature. Do not use the blower. Re-apply 4-5 layers.
Note : - Make sure that between the coating should be completely dry.
- Should Separated the work area at least 2 divide by the thread, to avoid the thread. The result will look so perfect.
